Certified Investment Policy Pittsburgh, PA- June 2, 2003 - The Association of Public Treasurers-United States & Canada (APT-US&C) has notified Allegheny County Treasurer John Weinstein of the successful completion of the Investment Policy Certification Process.
A team of three reviewers from the Investment Policy Certification committee reviewed the Allegheny County Investment Policy and on the first submission approved the policy for the APT-US&C Investment Policy Certificate of Excellence Award. Treasurer Weinstein said, "this is the first time in Allegheny County history that there has been a certified Investment Policy." He continued, "a certified policy is just one of the innovative initiatives undertaken to up-grade the professionalism and operation of the Treasurers Office."
According to Mr. Weinstein "the certified investment policy formalizes the investment processes utilized by my office thereby safeguarding taxpayer funds and protecting investments."
The Association of Public Treasurers-United States & Canada has extended an invitation to Treasurer Weinstein to receive a plaque recognizing this accomplishment at their annual conference in Washington DC scheduled for August. Mr. Weinstein said "he would be honored to receive the award on behalf of Allegheny County."
